British High Commission & Consulates in New Zealand

The High Commission and the consular network in New Zealand are meant to help the UK citizens living in the country or traveling to New Zealand. There is a High Commission in Wellington, the Consulate General in Christchurch and a consulate in Auckland.

The official website offers travel advice for the UK nationals traveling to New Zealand and includes information on entry requirements, local laws, health and security.

If your passport was lost or stolen or if it expires while you are in New Zealand, the High Commission can help you get new valid travel documents.

If a UK citizen is victim of a crime, they can give information about the local police and legal procedures. If a doctor is needed, then the consulate can help the UK citizen contact one. They can also give a list of local lawyers. If you want, the consulate can contact your relatives and friends back home and let them know something has happened to you. If you were seriously ill or injured, they will contact you within 48 hours and can help you contact the insurance company. They can also help if a British national dies abroad, if someone goes missing or if a child has been abducted.

Emergency contact

In New Zealand, the number to call for emergencies is 111.
You should call this number if someone is badly injured or in danger, there’s a serious risk to life or property, you’ve come across a major public inconvenience or if a crime is being committed (and the offenders are still there or have just left).

If you need help from the British High Commission, call (+64) (04) 924 2888 or the closest Consulate to where things have happened.
